Meet the Sleuth

Bonnie Nash is a feverish fashionista and one cool sleuth. She’s been writing for Chic Chick magazine for more than two years. And she’s quick to tell you she needs a new job. “Yesterday.”

As an amateur detective, Bonnie uses her stiletto-high fashion IQ to capture killers who commit crimes of passion. And crimes of fashion, too. Bonnie recently sat down for a chat with author Barbara Nachman.

Barbara: So, you’re 29, single and live in New York City.

Bonnie: Yes. Yes. And I call it the Fashion Capital of the World.

Barbara: What can you tell us about Chic Chick?

Bonnie: I’ve got to get out of that place.

Barbara: But isn’t it glitz and glam 24/7?

Bonnie: Merde!

Barbara: I notice you use that word a lot. What’s it mean?

Bonnie: I’d rather not say. It’s French. I picked it up from G.C.
That’s my Granny Chloe.

Barbara: I understand G.C. has majorly influenced your life.

Bonnie: When she was very young, my grandmother worked for Mademoiselle. Not the magazine. I’m talking about the iconic fashion designer, Coco Chanel. Everyone says I inherited the fashion gene from G.C.

Barbara: Speaking of jeans, do you have a favorite brand?

Bonnie: Today it’s Le Jean. Tomorrow, it could be Juicy or Joe’s or Lucky or Chip & Pepper or Marc or Cheap Monday.

Barbara: They say fashion is fickle.

Bonnie: That kinda irks me. Baseball players change teams all the time. No one calls them fickle.

Barbara: Good point. Any other pet peeves?

Bonnie: Fashion fascists. I hate them. Do you hear me, Joan and Melissa? And if one more person says, “Gray is black lite,” I’ll lose my lunch.

Barbara: I hear ya. So, Bonnie, you’re a sleuth, a fashionista, and an international traveler. How do you do it all?

Bonnie: If you want to know, you’ll have to read Catwalk Killer.

Barbara: I sure will. And one last question. What can you tell us about your love life?

Bonnie: It’s all in the book.
