Meet the Author
For more than 20 years, Barbara Nachman was a feature writer for a daily New York newspaper. During those delirious decades she attended more fashion shows than sanity allows.
The result: An addiction so virulent that even the Betty Ford clinic can’t cure her.
Her symptoms: Rabid jean-a-holia; intense cashmere cravings; unstoppable chain shopping at emporiums as diverse as Neiman's and Target. Which she insists on calling “Tar-Jay.”
Barbara is hooked on Hermes, mainlines Manolos and pops Prada as if it were pure oxygen.
Her bible: The Fairchild Dictionary of Fashion.
Her newspaper: Women’s Wear Daily.
Her TV obsession: “Project Runway.” What else?
Attending fashion shows isn’t all glam and sizzle. Barbara developed the plot for her first murder mystery, Catwalk Killer, while standing on line waiting for these fashionably late presentations to begin. She wrote the book on weekends and vacations.
She adores designers from Georgio Armani to Zac Posen. And loves to quote Bill Blass.
“When in doubt wear red,” the fashion darling told his ladies who lunch.
She’s also been known to misquote Shakespeare.
“What a delicious thief this fashion is!”
